RATIONING

Rationing continued for years afterwards and you still had your ration book. We were worse off than Germany! They were sending the food over to Germany. We were rationed for every bloody thing. When we got married I think we got 2 ounces of butter extra, a pound of sugar, ounce of lard. The smell of that bloody powered egg – I’ve never fancied an omelette since.
